Issue #584 has been updated by Clément OUDOT.

Category set to OpenLDAP RPM
Target version set to openldap-rpm-?

Well, if we study LSB, we should not install in /usr/local or /opt: http://www.tldp.org/HOWTO/HighQuality-Apps-HOWTO/fhs.html

For me, /usr/local for LTB package is fine. We are not really a 3rd party software as this is the pure free version of OpenLDAP (I think Symas package ship some proprietary version).

Feature #584: Optimized Openldap Directory Structure

Hi, I am not a specialist in the field, but it was indicated to me that the correct place to put 3rd party and unbundled applications, even on GNU/Linux and especially on CentOS is /opt.

Therefore, I would think it might be sensible to examine whether it would be better to follow in the future the symas openldap packaging paradigm, which would produce a structure as follows (adapted from symas packages - only used for illustration):

<pre>
/var/ltb/:

-rw-r--r--  errors
drwx------  openldap-data
drwxr-x---  openldap-logs
drwxr-xr-x  run

/opt/ltb/:

drwxr-xr-x 2 bin
drwxr-xr-x 3 etc
drwxr-xr-x 5 lib64
drwxr-xr-x 4 share
drwxr-xr-x 2 ssl
</pre>

Regards and thanks for your fine packages.
